Roch Yao Gnabeli is Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Université Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan and Head of the Laboratoire de Sociologie Économique et d’Anthropologie des Appartenances Symboliques (LAASSE). In his research, Roch Gnabeli specializes in the study of migration, social integration, social domination and citizenship, as well as the linkages between social structures and the economy. He holds two doctorates from the Université d’Abidjan (1998) and from the Ecole des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) de Paris (2005). Aside from a large number of scientific articles, he is the author of the book Les mutuelles de développement en Côte d’Ivoire: Idéologie de l’origine et modernisation villageoise (Editions l’Harmattan, 2014). In addition, Roch Gnabeli also heads the Institut pour le Bonne Gouvernance, le Développement et la Prospective (IGDP), a local NGO, which acts as a platform for knowledge transfer to political actors and civil society. He is also editor of the scientific reviews Revue Sociétés et Economies, Les Annales du LAASSE and Perspectives et Sociétés.

Gilbert Fokou is the coordinator of the Social Sciences and Governance and the Institutions groups at the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d’Ivoire (CSRS), Abidjan. He holds a PhD in social anthropology from the University of Yaounde (I) in Cameroon (2008), where he wrote his dissertation on "Transformations of institutions for common property resource management in the Lake Chad region (North Cameroon/Chad).’’ Gilbert Fokou’s main research foci are: institutions for common property resources management, dynamics of pastoral production systems, environmental conflicts, institutions regulating access for pastoral communities to natural resources, social-ecological systems, access of rural populations to basic social services and stakeholder analysis. In the past, he has held positions at the University of Yaounde (I) and the Institut du Sahel of Bamako, Mali.

Dr. Jean-Louis Lognon

Jean-Louis Lognon is assistant lecturer in sociology at the University Houphouët-Boigny in Abdijan. He completed a Ph.D. in economic sociology at the University of Cocody-Abidjan with the title "Ideology and practices of informal sector support in Côte d’Ivoire’’ (2010). In his research, Jean-Louis Lognon specializes in studying the relations between the state and civil society, public policies, ethnicity and ethnic entrepreneurship, and the informal sector. In addition, he is also affiliated with the Economic Policy Analysis Unit (CAPEC) of the Center of Economic and Social Research (CIRES).

Abou Djane is a researcher affiliated with the Laboratoire de Sociologie Économique et d’Anthropologie des Appartenances Symboliques (LAASSE) at the University Houphouët Boigny in Abijan, the Centre Suisse de Recherche en Côte d’Ivoire, as well as Swisspeace. He completed a Ph.D. in Sociology at the University Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan (2013) with the title "Logiques sociales et enjeux des politiques publiques des ordures ménagères à Abidjan.’’ Abou Djane’s areas of research are in the domains of governance, statehood, peacebuilding, transitional justice, humanitarian action, and the politics of environment and health.

Rusticot Droh is assistant lecturer at the Institut d’Ethno-sociologie of the Université Felix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. He is also member of the Laboratoire de Sociologie Economique et d’Anthropologie des Appartenances Symboliques (LAASSE). In his studies, Rusticot Droh focuses on qualitative research in the African context and the rights of children and youths in fragile states.

Dr. Dali Serge Lida

Dali Serge Lida is Senior Lecturer in the Unité de Formation et de Recherche en Sciences de l’Homme et de la Société (UFR/SHS) of the Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan. He holds a Ph.D. in economic sociology from the Université Paris X Nanterre. In his research, Dr. Lida studies social practices and the relations between economics and politics. In particular, he has carried out research on the relations between indigenous people and migrants, citizens and non-citizens, as well as between ethnic groups in economic, social and political arenas. In addition, he also coordinates research and education programs at the Laboratoire de Sociologie Économique et d’Anthropologie des Appartenances Symboliques and is editor of the review Sociétés & Économies.
